Pain
Pain - Chronic or acute musculoskeletal pain and arthritis of the body: neck, back, shoulder, elbow knee and foot etc.
Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and causes the release of pain relieving chemical messengers resulting in
pain relief
Often enables the patient to reduce their depedence on pain medication, which reduces associated side effects
Conditions Treated
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is a holistic approach to getting people
well. I work with you to diagnose what the underlying cause of your
condition is and then I can tailor a treatment plan, which may include
lifestyle and dietary advice to help maximize the treatment outcome for
you. This approach treats the symptoms you want help with and often
other beneficial changes occur alongside, as you body's natural balance is
restored.
Acupuncture can be safely combined with western medicine to benefit
patients with a range of conditions and in May 2009 NICE (National
Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) issued guidelines recommending
that acupuncture be made available on the NHS for chronic lower back
pain.

(Persistent low back pain, new NHS guidelines)
Increases local microcirculation which aids dispersal of swelling and bruising
Supression of the peripheral inflammatory response can limit damage caused by swelling
Painful periods (Dysmenorrhea)
Breaks down scar tissue which facilitates healing resulting in remodelling of affected soft tissues
Sports injuries, acute, traumatic and chronic or overuse injuries
Premenstrual tension (PMT)
Sports Injuries
Infertility and to support IVF treatment
Injured atheletes who receive acupuncture are often able to return to training more quickly than would otherwise be possible
and the treatment is therefore used by top sports people and athletes, including the British Lions Rugby team, many
Premiership football teams and the British Olympic team to treat musculoskeletal problems
Chinese acupuncture has been used to treat many aspects of women's health for thousands of years. As a member of ACT
North West (Acupuncture and Childbirth Trust) I am qualified to safely treat women throughout their pregnancy and prepare
them for labour, teaching them the acupressure points to help them manage the pain of childbirth and assist them in
preparing their bodies for an efficient labour.

Promotes faster recovery and return to training more quickly
Chinese medicine recognises many different types of headache and through diagnosing the cause of your headache from a Chinese
perspective, we are better able to treat the symptoms and give longer term relief.
Neurological Conditions
Patients with conditions such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease may use Chinese acupuncture to help with a range of
symptoms they experience, both physical and emotional.
Women's Health
Addictions problems (smoking)
Acupuncture and particularly Auricular acupuncture (ear) has been widely used to help manage the side effects of
withdrawal from an addictive substance.
Facial Acupuncture
Although a relatively new approach in the west, Traditional Chinese
Acupuncture has been used for many hundreds of years as a beauty aid.
Using a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, facial massage and
cupping, we can help to improve the texture, condition and colour of the
skin. Many factors can affect our skin, weather conditions such as sun and
wind can lead to damage and premature ageing. Chronic illness, overwork,
emotional trauma such as bereavement or divorce can all affect the
delicate balance of our Qi. Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, working at the
physical and emotional level, can help to restore the balance these
situations disrupt. "Beauty is more than skin deep"
Seasonal Tune Up!
One answer to reducing sickness levels is to improve general wellbeing. A quarterly seasonal tune up with an acupuncturist
can help improve overall health by enhancing the body's immune system to keep illness at bay. A seasonal tune up can also
provide a boost in energy levels, lifting mood and improving a person's sense of wellbeing.

Holistic care - Means that sometimes a patient's condition requires more that one therapeutic approach. I have a network
of different practitioners (e.g. Osteopaths, Chiropracters, Podiatrists, Sport and Physiotherapists) whom I work alongside
and where appropriate can refer the patient to them. In this way, we can often achieve a more complete recovery, which
includes an important element of rehabilitation, especially with chronic injuries and conditions.
